The Pharmacovigilance Centre at the University of Kelaniya functions as an autonomous entity responsible for collating, analyzing, and disseminating information pertaining to Adverse Events (AE). Operating as an independent body, this center produces objective reports on drug safety for both local and international stakeholders.
Drawing its strength from the experienced clinicians and pharmacologists of the University, the Pharmacovigilance Centre is committed to ensuring the safety of medicines for patients in Sri Lanka. At present steps are being taken to improve the safety of medicines by strengthening the Centre’s surveillance system, conducting more research, and providing more education and training on pharmacovigilance. The Centre is also committed to raising awareness on pharmacovigilance among healthcare professionals and the public.
